Legit Video Game Tester Jobs?

I have always wanted to be in the video gaming industry. It took me 5 yrs to even get a job at GameStop lol. My main thing is I want to become a QA game tester. My only problem is that I live in St. Louis, Mo and there is NO COMPANIES here that even have anything to do with the gaming industry to test the products. Now I hear about that there is ways to do it from home and they get sent to you but I honestly don’t know if that is a Scam or what> So can someone PLEASE help me out on what I can do to get closer to what I really wanna do. I have been playing video games for yrs now and if there is a way to work from home to test them out I would really want to know if that is actually the REAL DEAL. And Please give me actual answers I don’t want any ignorant remarks on here. Thank you for your time.

Here is a company in Saint Louis

play at home testing is a Scam. There are some ways to do it but you don’t earn a real wage.

Becoming A Game Tester is do-able but sometimes you need someone to show you the way.
of the people offering help, this will help you avoid SCAMS…

Here is what another industry expert says about how to be careful when looking for video game tester training.

“About Those “Game Tester” Websites

Do NOT send money to sites that promise game testing gigs online, like becomegametester.com or gametesterguide.net or gamertestingground.com or other sites like that (pretty much any URL with “game” and “tester” or “testing” in it). You can’t trust the promises made by any of those sites. There’s even one that warns you against testing scam sites, gametestingscams.com/ – this one is also a scam. (^_^) It’s warning you to beware of scams, but it’s all a lie too (and it is undoubtedly the brainchild of someone who owns one of the sites it’s “warning” you against – maybe they’re all by the same guy, Alex Lum — I don’t know and I don’t really care). These sites exist to take money from you, not to help you get a full-time testing job.

I wrote more about this sort of questionable website in FAQ 24 and in my July 2007 column on the IGDA website, “The Games Game” – the editor entitled this column “Summer Job Scams (July 2007).” The column is at http://www.igda.org/games-game/. If you look for the July 2007 column in a later month, just click Archives to find all older columns”

If you want real education. Here is an online college http://www.gameinstitute.com/PowerUp_Gam…
They offer a game testing course.
